We had SUCH a great week and learned so much :)
A special thank you to Sarah's Mom for reading a story to the class and surprising us with new games to play! The children love them! Also, thank you to Jasmine's parents for sending in goodie bags to celebrate Jasmine's 6th birthday. Finally, thank you so Sabrina, Jessica's sister, for reading to the AM class!
Let's start with St. Patrick's Day (it's my absolute favorite time of the year)! I just love watching the excitement in the children's eyes! First, we set up a trap to catch the Leprechaun. We used a coin as bait :) When the children went to special, I put green food coloring in the toilet bowls, sprinkled confetti and glitter all over the floor, knocked over some chairs, and tracked green footprints all over the walls. The room looked a mess!! I also took the coin off of our trap to make it look like the Leprechaun outsmarted us and took the coin without falling through! When the kids walked in the room, the screaming began! After I settled them down a bit, we began our scavenger hunt which led us to a basket of bubbles. Even though the children did not "catch" the Leprechaun, they were excited to receive the bubbles as a prize! Take a look at our fun-filled day below!

In Math, we played "Mystery Block". I chose a block without revealing it to the class and the children asked yes or no questions to figure out the mystery block. For example, Is it small? Does it have three sides? Is it red? Is it the large blue triangle? After the kiddos asked a question, they removed blocks according to the response. We continued playing until only the mystery block remained. This was a lot of fun!
The next day, we reviewed the names/properties of 3-d shapes. I showed the children the Feely Box and explained that I will provide clues to help them find a particular shape using their sense of touch. For example. I asked: Find the shape that has one vertex, one flat face, and rolls in a circle (cone). They did such a great job!
Finally, we added to our class collection and recorded the total number of shells/feathers and made two and three dimensional shapes with toothpicks and play dough. The kiddos were so excited to show off their shapes!
-Write the Room: Students searched for words around the classroom and wrote the words in the boxes in the correct order. Then, they rewrote the sentence and drew a picture of their leprechaun.
-ABC Center: Students spun their spinner and wrote the beginning sound on their graph.
Writing Center: Students continued working on their stories in their writing folder.
Math Center: Students recorded combinations/wrote number sentences using number bracelets.
Many Blessings,
