Our week was filled with discussions of Magical Fantasies, the weather, and chicks!
We started off the week by reading one of my all time favorites, "There's No Such Thing as a Dragon." After discussing the sequence of events, the students drew what happened in the beginning, middle, and end of the story on their story path. The dragon started off small and then grew larger and larger because he wasn't being noticed. At the end of the story, he turns small again because the little boy's family finally realizes he is real. It is a really sweet story and the children adored it!
Then we read the very funny "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" and created a class book. The children completed the sentence "Cloudy with a Chance of _________." It was very interesting to see what they wanted to see fall from the sky. Their answers ranged from cookies to pizza to even puppies!
- Tablets- Children practiced letter formation.
- Spring Play-dough Work Mats- Children manipulated play-dough to spell Spring words, added details to Spring insects/animals, etc.
- Change the Sound- Children read the word in the flower and changed the beginning or ending sound in the word to spell the picture name and wrote the new word on the line.
- Addition and Subtraction- Children used the pictures to either write an addition sentence or a subtraction sentence.
- Secret Sight Words- Children identified the beginning sound to spell sight words.

My kindergarten friends were filled with hugs and goodbye’s today as we left for one week off from school. I wish you all a peaceful and relaxing Spring Break! If you celebrate Easter or Passover, I wish you a blessed holiday.
Many Blessings,
