A big thank you to our class parents for hosting a fantastic holiday party! Thank you also to all the parents who so generously sent in supplies, food, and goodies for our class. Everyone enjoyed the yummy snacks and making the cute little crafts!
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you for the wonderfully generous gift cards and all the cards and gifts. I was overwhelmed by your thoughtfulness ~ thank you very much!!
This week was a very exciting week of course! Jingle the Elf introduced us to her pet reindeer Snowflake! The children were thrilled! She even came wrapped in a present! Take a peek!
In Math, I introduced the Number Grid.
First, we compared the number grid to the Growing Number Line and noted that both showed the numbers in order. We talked about how to read a number grid the same way we read words in a book (left to right). Then, each child used their own number grid to practice different ways of counting (i.e. counting up to a given number on the grid; counting on from a given number on the grid; counting backward from a given number; counting by 10’s....). Finally, the children used their dry erase markers to show some of the following prompts:
- Draw a line across the numbers from 1 to 10, 11 to 20, and so on.
- Shade the numbers we say when we count by 10s.
- Put a box around the number 10. Underline the number that comes before it. Put an "X" on the number that comes after it.
- Circle all the numbers that start with 3.
- Draw a line through all the numbers that end with 2.
