In Math, I demonstrated how to sort blocks by shape by placing the shapes on a bar graph. Then, the children watched as I removed each shape and colored in the square to record my data. Finally, each child was given a handful of blocks to sort. After they recorded their results by coloring in the appropriate number of squares, we compared our results. They are all such super sorters!!!

During Literacy, I read "In a Dark, Dark Wood." I explained that the children would create an alternate ending to the story. The children drew their ending on black construction paper using our special crayons (oil pastels). The words to the story were attached to the front. When everyone was done, we choral read the story and each child blurted out their ending together.
- Halloween Sight Word Write the Room- Children searched for sight words around the room and recorded them on recording sheet next to Halloween picture.
- Fall/Halloween number Puzzles- Children put numbers in order to form a Halloween picture.
- Halloween/Fall number matching file folder game- Children counted sets of objects and placed the corresponding number underneath.
- Play dough Mats- Children molded play dough to create Halloween pictures.
The afternoon class paraded outside as they waved and smiled to everyone in the audience. We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather! They were all so proud to "show off" their amazing costumes!! When we got back into our classroom, we were welcomed by our class parent and decorated super cute picture frames and freeze danced to Halloween songs! A big thank you to Anthony's mom for organizing all of this and making our day so memorable! We really appreciate the goodie bags, too!
I hope that everyone has an enjoyable evening Trick-or-Treating! I can't wait to hear all about it on Monday!
Reminders:
- School is closed Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday next week!
Warm Regards.
