I hope you all are having a relaxing and enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend! Another lightning-fast week – please slow down time, it’s going too fast! Only 16 days left of school.
Field Day was by far the most memorable and exciting part of the kiddos Kindergarten year! They LOVED all the awesome activities and even showed good sportsmanship when they didn't win. I was so impressed with the way they handled themselves :) They also really enjoyed eating in the cafeteria with the other Kindergarten classes! They are all so grown up! Thank you Mrs. Rutz, Mr. Jenkins, and our wonderful parent volunteers for all your hard work!
Next, I introduced doubles and the students practiced drawing dots on their double ten frame mat to show doubles. They also wrote addition number sentences to match their doubles fact.
During Writer's Workshop, I explained that writers revise stories, just like you revise Lego buildings or clay creations. When a writer likes his or her story, the writer returns to it, thinking, "How can I make this even better?" One way writers revise is they picture what happened in their mind (and sometimes by making a drawing) and then putting what they picture onto the page.
Then, the kiddos helped me revise our chick story. They told me exactly what to write to make it even better and a lot more interesting to read. My favorite part is the last sentence- "They even pooped." They could not stop laughing!!!!
Best,
Mrs. Nork
