I first wanted to say how incredibly thankful I am for such wonderful classes. I truly am so blessed to have such an incredibly sweet and caring group of children.
What made me feel even more special was the plethora of homemade cards, birthday wishes and hugs your little ones gave to me on Tuesday. I was incredibly humbled to see the children busily working on birthday goodies for me and the smiles on their faces when they presented them to me! How adorable! They really helped to make my birthday extra special and one I will certainly never forget!
Thank you to Ryan P.'s mom and Anthony's mom for organizing my birthday surprise- I will treasure the homemade book and cards forever! Thank you for the beautiful flowers and gift cards as well :)
With that being said, I would like to thank each one of you for taking time out of your day to meet with me this week :)
This week in Fundations, the children continued to tap out and read words with digraphs. They now know that "ck" only comes at the end of words. They also learned two more Trick Words- I and you. The kiddos also practiced retelling the story "Gregory the Terrible Eater." They did such a fantastic job :)
In Math this week, we showed different ways to make numbers on our Number collection Poster. The children used tally marks, dominoes, number bracelets, popsicle sticks, etc. They are such fast learners :) Then, they each received their own number collection mat so they could practice on their own!
This week in Literacy we studied the wonderful Eric Carle! I just love his children's books! On Monday, we read "10 Little Rubber Ducks" and learned about ordinal numbers. Then, the children were challenged to line up and put themselves in order from 1st-10th. I called out different ordinal numbers and the class identified who was in that position. Finally, the children created their own page for a class book, modeled after Eric Carle's story. Each child wrote and illustrated one page. I just love their illustrations :)
- Book Swap: Children can bring in books through April 29th. The Swap will be on Friday, May 13th.
