I know I say this often, but this week was definitely my favorite week (and the kiddos) so far! Not only did we have adorable chicks to share our classroom with, we also had a super awesome day walking around our school and completing various fitness tasks ( i.e jump roping, throwing, catching, etc.) during our "Walk for Fitness" this Thursday. A special thank you to Caroline's Mom for helping with this event!
Even though we had some late bloomers, we welcomed 8 sweet little chicks to our classroom. Your children enjoyed holding and petting the chicks and even got to watch them run around :) Although we were very sad to see them go, it was an amazing experience and truly a miracle to watch them grow and hatch :)
Finally, we talked about the difference between the minute hand and hour hand and played a time matching game where the children compared the times on an analog clock to the times on a digital clock.
In Literacy, the children completed their chick journals. They wrote about when they were going to hatch and what they were like after they hatched. We spent some time talking about describing words and brainstorming a list of adjectives we could use to describe our chicks. They are becoming such great writers :)
- Reading Center: Students completed "ch" digraph book.
- Tablets: Children practiced a variety of math skills.
- Math Center: Students used dry erase marker to make the hands on the clock to show the time on the cards.
- Word Work: Students used play dough to form the letters of each digraph and practiced writing the digraphs on the lines below.
Take Care,
