Even though we had some late bloomers, we welcomed 5 sweet little chicks to our classroom. Your children enjoyed holding and petting the chicks and even got to watch them run around :) Although we were very sad to see them go, it was an amazing experience and truly a miracle to watch them grow and hatch :)

They also learned three new Trick Words: he, she, and we.
In Math, I told the children that on the way to school today, I saw 10 birds flying near two telephone wires. I asked: What is one way the 10 birds could sit on 2 wires? After modeling some combinations and introducing "turn around facts" or the reverse number sentence (i.e. 2+8=10 and 8+2=10) , I explained that they will work to find as many different ways as they can to show 10 birds sitting on 2 wires. They worked so hard recording their solutions!
1 Place a "car" counter on the 0 space on each of the tracks on the gameboard.
2 Player 1 rolls the die and decides which counter(s) to move. The player can split the roll across two or three cars or move one car the full amount.
3 Player 2 rolls the die and repeats Step 2.
5 Play ends when all 3 counters have reached the 10 space exactly.
