Not only did your adorable kiddos exchange their Valentine's Day cards, but they also celebrated the 100th Day of School! Can you believe there is only 78 days left? I can't!
In Fundations, we continued to practice tapping out and blending CVC words. Your kiddos are now beginning to spell CVC words that are dictated to them.
This week, I performed the story "Baby Echo Finds Echo at Last." The children LOVE these stories. After I read and acted out the story, I asked the following questions:
- Who was in this story?
- Where did it take place?
- What was Baby Echo's problem? What did he do about it?
- How did things turn out? What happened in the end?
- How did Baby Echo feel at the beginning of the story?
- How did Baby Echo feel at the end of the story?

Finally, the children practiced writing CVC words on their dry erase boards that we tapped out together. We will continue to work on this! I am so proud of them- this is very challenging!
In Math, we played "Disappearing Train." To begin, the kiddos made a 20-cube train on their game boards. Then partners took turns rolling the die, subtracting that number of cubes from their train, and saying how many cars remained. They played until someone's train had 0 cars!
- Center 1: Children played "Race to 100" with a partner.
- Center 2: Children counted to 100 by 10's while reading an emergent reader with the predictable pattern "I see..."
- Center 3: Children used pattern blocks to create the number 100.
- Center 4: Children finished the sentence "If I had 100 dollars I would buy..."
We also welcomed a new student in our PM class, Alison. We are very happy to have her in our class!
Take a look at the kiddos 100th day posters out on display! They came out great! Thank you to all the parents for helping with these! The children are so proud of them!
