Even though we had a short week, it was jam-packed with lots of learning and fun!
In Fundations, we continued to practice reading and "tapping out" our CVC words. This week, your child learned how to properly form the following uppercase letters: E, F, G, H, I and J. We are well on our way to finishing alphabet.
In addition, the kiddos began to manipulate sounds with rhyming patterns. To start, I made the word "cat." Then, I removed the c card and replaced it with the b to make "bat." We continued reading rhyming words, each time changing the first letter.
In Math, we solved number stories by drawing pictures. The kiddos did such an awesome job proving their answer by showing their work :)

We also learned 4 new vocabulary words: uncomfortable, comfortable. wade, and mend.
During Writer's Workshop, we continued to work on our how-to books. This week, I explained that how-to writers don't just reread the words. How-to writers ALSO reread to check that their writing makes sense. The best way to check whether your directions make sense is to read them to someone who will try to follow the steps. If your partner can't figure out what you mean, that means that your directions don't quite work and you have to revise them. The children worked so hard rereading their stories and revising them :)
