I hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather! I know I am! With that being said, I'm sure you all have heard by now that I took the kiddos out on the playground for the very first time! They were all THRILLED to play outside with their friends. It was so rewarding to see the huge smiles on their faces :)
This week we celebrated three summer birthdays: Emma, Caitlin, and Lily! A lot of birthdays this month!!
In Fundations, we continued to practice sentence dictation and proofreading by tapping out each word and checking from capitalization and punctuation. The checkmarks signify that the word was spelled correctly. We also learned two new Trick Words: by and my. Take a look!
In Math, we played "Number Gymnastics!" The children had so much fun reading the clues and figuring out the numbers- they even got up out of their chairs and did some exercising! Take a look :)

because I used very little force. I used more force when throwing the second bean bag and used the most force when throwing the third bean bag. Then, I called on a student to do the very same thing while another student measured the distance each bean bag traveled using a tape measure :)
- Box A was empty.
- Box B had bouncy balls in it,
- Box C had two bags of marbles in it.
I challenged some students to use a single push (finger flick) on each box to push each toward the finish line. I asked: Which box required the most force? Least? In the middle? Take a look at our findings!
In Literacy, you're amazing children were hard at work this week making very special mementos for the end of the year. I don't want to give anything away so I won't be sharing any more information :) Don't worry Dads...we have you taken care of as well!! Let's just hope the children are able to wait until Father's Day :)
We also spent some time writing! The children wrote about which season they like best and why. They also wrote about why they love the United States :)
- Writing Center: The children wrote a true story in their writing folders.
- Counting Center: The children worked on their number scrolls.
-Drawing Center: The children either drew the missing parts of the insect to make it symmetrical or colored the insect so that both sides were the same.
- Tablet Center: The children played games on Starfall.
- ABC Center: The children used a mirror to read sight words and recorded them on their recording sheet.
Take Care,
Mrs. Nork
