We had SUCH a great week and learned so much, even though we only had 3 days :)
This week we celebrated Mahlon's birthday! Happy Birthday, Mahlon :)
Let's start with St. Patrick's Day (it's my absolute favorite time of the year)! I just love watching the excitement in the children's eyes! First, we set up a trap to catch the Leprechaun. We used a coin as bait :) I put green food coloring in the toilet bowls, sprinkled shamrocks and glitter all over the floor, knocked over some chairs, and tracked green footprints all over the walls. The room looked a mess!! I also left the coin on our trap to make it look like the Leprechaun was not fooled by our trap. When the kids walked in the room, the screaming began! After I settled them down a bit, we began our scavenger hunt which led us to a basket of mini leprechauns and green coins. Even though the children did not "catch" the Leprechaun, they were excited to receive the toys as a prize! Take a look at our fun-filled day below!

Due to the snow days, we did not finish the craft portion of this writing activity. The kiddos will finish this next week :)
We also learned our last poem "I'm a Little Leprechaun" in our poetry journals. These journals no longer have to come back to school- they are for the kiddos to keep :) We will begin our chick journals next week! Our chick eggs will arrive on March 28th!
During Guided Reading/Literacy Centers, the children rotated through the following centers:
-Write the Room: Students searched for words around the classroom and wrote the words in the boxes in the correct order. Then, they rewrote the sentence and drew a picture of their leprechaun.
-ABC Center: Students spun their spinner and recorded the beginning sound on their graph.
Word Work Center: Students tapped out and spelled CVC words.
Math Center: Students recorded combinations/wrote number sentences using number bracelets.
Best,
Mrs. Nork
