Even though we had a short week, Field Day was by far the most memorable and exciting part of the kiddos Kindergarten year! They LOVED all the awesome activities and even showed good sportsmanship when they didn't win. I was so impressed with the way they handled themselves :) They also really enjoyed eating in the cafeteria with the other Kindergarten classes! They are all so grown up!
This week in Fundations, we practiced sentence dictation and learned about the importance of proofreading. First, several children were given a word to write on a sentence frame. Then, after reading the sentence, I challenged them to arrange their frames in order so that they displayed the sentence that I read.
On Wednesday, I showed the students two different books about ants. I explained that some books tell make-believe stories and other books tell us facts that are true. Then I read the narrative book One Hundred Hungry Ants. Finally, I asked the children the following questions:
-Who are the characters in the story?
-What is the setting?
- What are the main events? What happened first? Then what happened? What happened next? What happened at the end?
Then, I show them the informational book about ants and explained that this book has true facts. We read this book last week.
