Only 12 more day of school :( I know the children are excited for summer break (and so am I), but it's hard for me to imagine not seeing them everyday!
I have to say that I was quite sad Wednesday after school as I set up the classroom for our last month in school. I changed the calendar for the very last time and completed my last seating chart for the year. I had an incredible year with your children and feel so very blessed to have such amazing classes!
This week we celebrated Aliana and Max's birthday! Very exciting!!
In Fundations, I showed the students two different books about bumblebees. I explained that some books tell make-believe stories and other books tell us facts that are true. Then I read the narrative book Buzzy the Bumblebee. Finally, I asked the children the following questions:
-Who are the characters in the story?
-What is the setting?
- What are the main events? What happened first? Then what happened? What happened next? What happened at the end?
Then, I show them the informational book about bumblebees and explained that this book has true facts. We will read this book next week.
Check out the sentence they made all on their own! Your children are just so smart!!! We also learned a new Trick Word: from. The children amaze me day after day with all the words they know now!
Next, we had a car race with our remote control car! We used a stop watch to measure how long it took for each child to finish the race. Take a look at our table below!
We also revisited our experiment from last week and tested our prediction about which material would heat up the most after being in direct sunlight. After feeling the water, stones, and sand, most of the children felt that the sand heated up the most, although many felt that the stones heated up the most.
Take Care,
Mrs. Nork
