This week in Kindergarten, we celebrated Leo's October birthday. Thank you to Leo's grandmother for coming in to read to our AM class :)
In Fundations, I introduced two new letters, d-dog-/d/ and s-snake- /s/. In addition to our Drill Sounds, Vowel Extensions, Magnetic Journals, and Dry Erase Boards/Student Notebooks, we practiced capitalizing names in sentences, and worked more with syllables and rhyming words.
In Math, the children learned all about rectangles. We compared the square and the rectangle and discussed what is the same about these shapes and what is different. Click on the file below to see my rectangle powerpoint presentation I shared with the kiddos.

• How has the tree changed?
• What do you see now?
• What color were the leaves in the summer?
• What color are they now?
Then, the children worked in their science journals and drew their Fall tree. They did such a nice job drawing the different colored leaves and some even drew some falling on the ground!
• Halloween Sight Word Write the Room- Children searched for sight words around the room and recorded them on recording sheet next to Halloween picture.
• Independent Reading- Children read books quietly to themselves.
• Halloween Counting Mats- Children counted sets of objects and circled the corresponding number.
• Play dough Mats- Children molded play dough to create Halloween pictures.
• Pumpkin Addition Mats- Children solved simple addition number sentences.
* Please note: I did not meet with my Guided Reading groups this cycle. Please feel free to read your own books at home with your child :)
