In Math, I demonstrated how to sort blocks by shape by placing the shapes on a bar graph. Then, the children watched as I removed each shape and colored in the square to record my data. Finally, each child was given a handful of blocks to sort. After they recorded their results by coloring in the appropriate number of squares, we compared our results. They are all such super sorters!!!
The afternoon class paraded outside as they waved and smiled to everyone in the audience. We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather! They were all so proud to "show off" their amazing costumes!! When we got back into our classroom, we were welcomed by our class parents and decorated super cute ghosts and freeze danced to Halloween songs! A big thank you to RJ's mom and Liam's mom for organizing all of this and making our day so memorable!
I also wanted to mention that we celebrated two October birthdays last week- Stella and Isis. Thank you to Stella’s Mom for coming in and freeze dancing with us :)
As our October/Halloween activities came to an end, we celebrated the start of November by getting brand new seats! In Literacy, I read "Duck for President" and talked about Election Day and why it is important to vote. I explained the voting process and then told the children that they would have the opportunity to "vote" for who they thought should be in charge of the farm- Duck or Farmer Brown.
The children excitedly filled out their voting ballots and placed them in our ballot box. Then, we gathered to the rug and counted and tallied the votes. The morning class thought that Farmer Brown would make a better leader and the afternoon class felt Duck would make the better leader. Not only was this activity fitting for Election Day, but it also reinforced tally marks and counting. Take a look at our results below!
- School is closed Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday next week!
Warm Regards.
