In Fundations, the children practiced letters m and n by participating in class skywriting activities, using letter tiles to match letter sounds, and drilling sounds with Echo the Owl. Not only have they been doing an excellent job remembering all of our letter-keyword-sound cards, but they also played an important role in helping me "act out" the story titled "Echo Finds Dinner." I included the story for your viewing in case you want to discuss it with your child!

- I had the children stand in a circle and chose a target number (10). The first child began counting with one. The pattern continued around the circle with each child saying the next number in sequence. The child who said the target number sat down and the count began again at one. The seated child was skipped as the count continued around the circle with another child sitting each time the target number was reached. We kept counting around the circle until all the children were sitting.
First, I modeled how to pick a topic. I explained that I want to write about what I know and not something imaginary. Then, I showed them my illustration of my husband and I at the farm picking pumpkins.
"Last Fall I went to the farm. I got a pumpkin. Now I am going to write my words." The children helped me Label my picture by stretching out the sounds they heard. They also helped me write my sentence "I got a pumpkin." They did a super job stretching out all the sounds they heard!
