In morning meeting, the children learned our days of the week/months of the year song and met the one and only....Owliver! He is our special bean bag chair for the "Leader of the Day" to sit on. The Leader of the Day is in charge of graphing the weather, dressing our weather frog, counting the days in school, sharing the date, and recording the temperature. The most exciting job of the Leader of the Day is sharing their special show-and-tell item. This week we saw stuffed animals, barbies, action figures and so much more!
We also discussed the importance of respecting ourselves, others, and our school. The children were introduced to our "starbucks" reward system for showing good character. Many have already been handed out! We explored this topic further by reading one of my favorite books "Have you Filled a Bucket Today?" Ask your children about the imaginary bucket over their heads :) We brainstormed and charted ways to be bucket fillers and ways to be bucket dippers. Then, we completed my poor choices vs. good choices pocket chart activity.
1. Journal Writing Station- the children were encouraged to use "kid writing" to write about something of particular interest to them.
I would also like to welcome our new student, Knight, who joined our am class on Thursday.
Another special thank you to Ryan (Kyle's brother) for reading to the pm class for Kyle's 6th birthday. I've never seen so many giggling faces!
I hope everyone has a fantastic long weekend!
Warm Regards,
Miss Visicaro
