This was a particularly hard week for me due to the fact the children had a substitute teacher for three consecutive days. Because I was still in the building, I was able to periodically check on them and saw with my very eyes how well behaved and awesome they did! The substitute teacher complimented the class and told me that they were such great listeners! I was so happy! I have the best classes EVER!
With that being said, I would like to thank each one of you for taking time out of your day to meet with me this week :)
In Fundations, we practiced reading words with silent e! They are doing such a great job making sure to say the vowels name instead of the sound when tapping out these words!
The kiddos learned a new trick word: was. We practiced reading sentences with the word "was" and finding it in our sentences as well! We also spent some time retelling "The Little Yellow Chicken" in our own words.
The next day, we played "Dice Subtraction" which gave the children practice subtracting small numbers quickly to find the difference between them. To play, the children rolled their dice and subtracted the smaller number from the larger number. The child with the smaller difference colored in a square on their ten frame.

The following day, the children shared their stories with their classmates :)
The children will have an opportunity to hold the chicks shortly after they hatch. Some children will want to and others may not. Please let me know, however, if you would prefer that your child does not hold a baby chick or if you have questions.
To introduce our Unit on Chicks, I read "The Chick and The Duckling" and the children created this adorable chick craft with an even cuter poem attached! We will finish these next week:)
- Spring Play-dough Work Mats- Children manipulated play-dough to spell Spring words, added details to Spring insects/animals, etc.

Many Blessings,
Mrs. Nork
